NEW DELHI: Just a day ahead of the expected launch of the new iPad(s), Apple has accidentally leaked two new iPad models - iPad mini 3 and iPad Air 2.
The two new models appear in screenshots on the 'iPad User Guide For iOS 8' listings page on Apple's iBooks e-books store.
In addition to revealing the names of the new iPad models, the screenshots suggest that the two tablets will sport a design similar to current-generation models with the major change being the Touch ID fingerprint scanner integrated with the Home button, similar to iPhone 5S, 6 and 6 Plus. The listing was first spotted by 9to5mac.
In addition to the Touch ID sensor, iPad Air 2 also supports Burst Mode, enabling users to take multiple photos by pressing the shutter button once, as per the user guide.
It is worth pointing out that the second-generation iPad mini was known as iPad mini with Retina display and not iPad mini 2.
Earlier a report from Mac Otakara had suggested that the next-generation iPad mini would also be revealed alongside the iPad Air 2. As per previous rumours, the iPad mini 3 was expected to have the same form factor and display as the iPad mini 2, but the 7.9-inch tablet is said to sport a slightly slimmer body. It is also expected to be powered by Apple's new 64-bit A8 processor that run the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Earlier, technology columnist Michael Andrew and his team at The Michael Report had claimed to have obtained photos and illustrations of the second-generation iPad Air from sources within Apple. He had said that the new iPad Air will come with Touch ID built into the home button and will also come in a gold colour option. The report pointed to an upgraded 8MP camera instead of the 5MP camera on the first-generation iPad Air, Apple A8 processor and 2GB of RAM as opposed to the 1GB of RAM found in the current iPad Air.
